Xochitl is an experienced communications/relationship building/DEI practitioner with more than 20 years leading, developing, and implementing communications and social impact strategies.

Xochitl is the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for Elevance Health where she is manages DEI external partnerships, company awards and recognitions and leads DEI communications. She leads a team that manages partnerships with HBCUs and HSIs, and workforce efforts for veterans and people with disabilities.

Prior to Elevance Health, Xochitl worked for State Farm where she held several key roles focused on managing, protecting, and enhancing the organization’s reputation through relationship management, brand/people positioning and social impact strategies. She also led the creation of the first-ever Hispanic media relations function for the company and was the first Spanish speaking corporate spokesperson.

Before joining the corporate sector, Xochitl was the Community Relations Manager for the Office of the Independent Auditor, a civilian oversight agency in San Jose, CA, where she led grassroots strategies that strengthened community relationships between law enforcement and the San Jose community.

Xochitl has a B.B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is a National Urban Fellow with a master’s in public administration from Baruch College in New York City. She has completed other industry and leadership programs from Brookings Institute and Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) Leadership Program.

Xochitl currently serves on the board of Aspire Learning Center in Arlington, Virginia. Previously, she led the creation of the Epilepsy Foundation Metropolitan Washington Chapter where she served as Chair of the advisory board. Xochitl also served on the board of La Clinica del Pueblo, a community health clinic in Washington D.C.
