In 2017, Mariam joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as a Mid-Career Examiner in the Jackson, Mississippi Field Office, and earned her Risk Management Commission in 2019.  In 2020, she joined the Division of Insurance and Research in Arlington, Virginia as a Financial Analyst.  Mariam was subsequently promoted to a Senior Financial Analyst.  Currently, she is a Lead Financial Analyst in the Data Collection and Analysis Section.  Mariam oversees a team that is responsible for the collection and analysis of financial institution data, including Reports of Condition and Income, Summary of Deposits, and structural data that is featured in the FDIC Chairman’s Quarterly Banking Report, FDIC BankFind Suite, bank industry articles, and the FDIC’s Annual Report.

Mariam has served as the Chair of the Memphis Chairman’s Diversity Advisory Council at the FDIC, a recruiter for the Workforce Recruitment Program, and a mentee in the FDIC Mentoring Program.  Presently, she is a FDIC Corporate Recruiter and participates in the newly-commenced FDIC Leadership Connect Program.  Before joining the FDIC, Mariam worked at a $13 billion financial institution for 12 years, lastly serving in a Senior Auditor role.  In the Senior Auditor role, she led a team of auditors of all levels for the Year-End Financial Audit with the external auditor, and also worked on financial, compliance and corporate governance regulatory issues.

Mariam holds professional designations as a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Internal Auditor.  She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi, and earned both Master of Business Administration and Master of Professional Accounting degrees from Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi.

She enjoys baking, going to reformer Pilates classes, spinning, and cycling.  Mariam is a lover of various types of art, with her favorites being pre-1960 African tribal art, and African-American paintings and sculptures.  She loves to volunteer at a local church and a not-for-profit organization in Northern Virginia.
